According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 200 mold and mold standard parts production enterprises and scientific research institutions in Hubei Province, which have formed certain characteristics in some fields:

First, the level of automobile mold manufacturing is relatively high. Dongfeng Automobile Mould Co., Ltd. and Shiyan Pioneer Mould Co., Ltd. are in the domestic leading position in the design and manufacture of moulds such as large automobile panels, and some moulds have reached the international advanced level. Second, the precision mold manufacturing capability is strong. Efeng Mould Co., Ltd., State-run No. 733 Factory, State-run No. 612 Factory and other enterprises have high precision mould manufacturing capabilities. Third, the mold material has unique advantages. Daye Special Steel Group and Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Company, as one of the national key special steel mills, have developed and produced many advanced new mold steels in recent years, which provide good conditions for improving mold quality and extending mold life. Because the mold manufacturers are relatively unconcentrated, and the molds produced by the tool and mold branches (workshops) of most all-round factories are self-produced and used, the degree of marketization is low, and the production technology cooperation between enterprises is relatively poor, so the mold production cycle is relatively long. . There is still a lot of work to be done to form an orderly, complete, centralized and collaborative market that operates with modern mechanisms.

According to the status quo and deficiencies, Hubei mold industry also put forward some basic ideas for improvement measures and future development:

1. Reasonably adjust the structure of mold enterprises. According to the needs of adapting to the development of the mold industry, it promotes the flow and reorganization of various types of capital, promotes the development of mixed ownership and private mold enterprises, enhances their entrepreneurial and innovative power, and forms a good competition and market order.

2. Strengthen exchanges and cooperation with foreign and provincial mold industries. The exchange and cooperation with foreign and provincial mold industries can, on the one hand, bring advanced equipment, technology and modern management information and experience to local mold companies; Go to the market, break the closure, participate in the competition, and further develop and grow in the competition.

3. Give full play to the bridge link and industry management role of industry associations. Hubei Mould Industry Association and Wuhan Sanlian Mould Co., Ltd. have jointly organized "Hubei Mould City" in Wuhan, which includes five functions: processing and production, operation, mould product exhibition, business negotiation and mould steel.
